GelSight has released GelSight Mobile 4.5, the latest software update for its GelSight Mobile handheld surface inspection platform. The company says the release improves "measurement performance across the board" and adds a Profile Analysis tool, an Arc shape for the Offset tool, a refreshed interface and expanded PDF reporting. It is available now.
Profile Analysis measures angle, radius, line-to-line distance and point-to-point distance across an extracted profile. It replaces the earlier Profile tool, which GelSight's release notes list as removed. The Offset tool's new Arc shape measures height differences across circular features. The notes also describe a new routine that groups point, line, caliper, angle, radius and reference measurements.
PDF reports can now include attached images and a signature line. For quality engineers, that puts the scan evidence and the inspector's sign-off in one document, which GelSight says makes results easier to share across an organization.
Performance changes come from system-level optimizations. The release notes cite faster startup and reduced CPU usage, along with smoother zoom and pan and a wider, more responsive 3D Z-scale slider. Routines saved in version 4.1 no longer need to be re-run, and the API now returns scan image data when a scan completes. Installers are signed and carry license markings for Windows security compatibility. Firmware updates cover GelSight Mobile, Mobile Shock Protected and Modulus.
"With GelSight Mobile 4.5, we've improved measurement performance across the board," said Bob Ochiai, Vice President of Product at GelSight. He said the updates "help teams measure surfaces and share inspection results across their organizations with confidence."
Existing customers request the update through a form on GelSight's software release page. The software is not applicable to GelSight Mini or DIGIT products.
