Reach the people who measure.
outoftol.news is independent news for the metrology community — dimensional metrology, inspection technology, automation and robotics, calibration and quality assurance, published Monday to Friday. Our audience is small, technical and growing. If you sell into this industry, it is a precise place to be seen.
A small room, full of the right people.
We would rather tell you exactly who reads us than quote a big vague number. Our readers are metrologists, calibration engineers, quality managers and lab leads — the people running CMMs, laser trackers, vision systems, CT scanners and SPC software, and the ones who write the requirements before anything gets bought.
About half sit in engineering, operations, research or product roles. Roughly a fifth are manager level or above — director, VP, owner — and about a quarter are senior individual contributors, the specialists whose recommendation decides the spec. The current headcount, month-on-month growth and the full breakdown are in the media kit, which we keep up to date.
Four things most publishers cannot offer you.
Ad blockers do not remove it
Technical publications typically lose a fifth to two-fifths of their impressions to blocking — engineers run blockers more than most audiences do. We serve your creative from our own domain, as part of the page, with no third-party call to intercept.
- Server-rendered into the HTML — no ad network, no script tag
- Checked against uBlock Origin and Brave default filter lists, in a real browser, as part of our build
Counted, not estimated
Because we host our own placements, our reporting is the source of truth rather than a third party's sample.
- Impressions counted server-side when the page renders
- Clicks logged through our own redirect, deduplicated by session, known bots excluded
- UTM parameters passed through so the traffic shows up in your analytics too
- Monthly report with commentary — and raw log summaries if you want them
No third-party scripts, no cookies
Nothing about a sponsorship here loads external code onto the page or follows a reader around.
- GDPR-clean by design; no personal data stored on your behalf
- Nothing that slows the page down for the reader you are trying to impress
People actually see it
Nothing on the page is competing with your ad. No pop-ups. No autoplay video. No cookie notice to dismiss. Readers come for the story, and your ad is right there. The front page has one ad slot, and it will stay that way.
Three ways in, and one we make up with you.
Bottom banner, sitewide
A persistent bar anchored to the bottom of the viewport — on every page, at every scroll position, desktop and mobile.
- One named mention per month in a LinkedIn post to our full audience
- Monthly performance report
In-article banner
Placed inside the body of articles, where the reader is already reading rather than scanning.
- Run-of-site across everything we publish, or
- Contextually targeted so it appears only in articles in your category — fewer impressions, materially more relevant ones
Sponsored article
A full article on outoftol.news, clearly labelled “Supported by [your brand]”.
- You control the message — send us yours, or brief us and we write it
- Shared on LinkedIn with attribution
- Permanent URL, no expiry
Something else
Newsletter placements, an event partnership, a series. We are small enough to build something that fits — tell us what you are trying to do and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it.
Rates, term discounts are in the media kit. Founding rates are locked for twelve months: the audience grows, your price does not.
Next to the stories your buyers already read.
An in-article placement can run across everything we publish, or be targeted to a single category so it only appears in stories on that subject. Fewer impressions, and every one of them beside something the reader chose. These are the categories we target against:
- 01CMMs and fixed metrology hardware
- 02Portable metrology and laser trackers
- 03Measurement and inspection software
- 04Quality analytics and SPC
- 05Calibration services and laboratories
- 06Sensors and probes
- 07CT and X-ray inspection
What to send us.
Every slot has a display box. Anything that fits inside it is accepted at its natural size — standard leaderboards, rectangles and mobile strips all work — and a file supplied at twice the box displays sharp on retina screens.
| Slot | Display box | Retina file |
|---|---|---|
| Bottom bar — desktop | 970 × 90 | 1940 × 180 |
| Bottom bar — mobile | 320 × 50 | 640 × 100 |
| In-article — desktop | 728 × 300 | 1456 × 600 |
| In-article — mobile | 320 × 300 | 640 × 600 |
- PNG, JPG or animated GIF · up to 300 KB, because this loads on every page view
- One target URL per creative; we can add UTM parameters on request
- Creative can be swapped once a month at no charge
We do not sell coverage.
Sponsored articles are always labelled as such, and in those the sponsor controls the message. Our news reporting is never for sale: sponsorship buys no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. We will not run an unlabelled sponsorship, and we will not take two competing sponsors in the same category at the same time.
This is worth as much to you as it is to us. The reason a recommendation here carries weight is that readers know it was not bought.
