ZEISS has released PiWeb 2026.R2, the second update to the 2026 version of its quality data analysis platform, adding real-time statistical process control calculations aligned with the Six Sigma calculation standard. The release extends PiWeb's SPC engine with new control charts, including a moving range chart, and additional system variables such as Pp, Ppk and Cpm.
PiWeb has long handled real-time SPC calculations for evaluating process capability, but those calculations previously followed a single methodology. The 2026.R2 update lets engineers run the same real-time analysis according to Six Sigma methods, which means teams already standardized on Six Sigma indices no longer have to reconcile their capability reporting against a different statistical framework. The interesting part for working engineers is the addition of Cpm, a capability index that accounts for how far a process mean drifts from its target rather than measuring spread alone.
The statistics configuration process has been rebuilt around a new interface. ZEISS says the redesign improves transparency into how settings affect output and adds a graphical representation that traces how a given result was generated. Statistical settings can now be defined both at the global database level and for individual reports, so a single deployment can carry one house standard while still allowing report-specific evaluations.
Custom alarm rules also expand in this release. The rule set now combines multiple conditions and checks statistical values across one or several measurements, and a test run feature generates a preview of a notification before the rule goes live, which gives engineers a way to validate logic without waiting for a real event to fire.
The release rounds out with three smaller additions. Surface data can now be visualized directly in the interactive 3D CAD view, report pages can be shared through a barcode that encodes a link to the current page, and the PiWeb Auto Importer can attach additional data to parts and characteristics during automated imports. The CAD surface overlay is the detail most likely to change day-to-day analysis, since it places point cloud or surface results in the same view as the nominal model rather than in a separate window.
