Zebra Technologies has renamed its Adaptive Vision machine vision software line Zebra Aurora Vision™, bringing the company's development platform, code library, and deep learning toolkit under a single brand. The product pages still live at adaptive-vision.com, but Zebra's own copy now reads: "Zebra is now a leading provider of user-friendly machine vision software for industrial image analysis."
The portfolio keeps its three-part structure under the new name. Aurora Vision Studio is the data-flow development environment for building inspection and robot guidance applications without writing code. Aurora Vision Library is a C++ and .NET library with more than 1,000 functions for image processing tasks like template matching, measurement, and code reading. Aurora Deep Learning adds pretrained neural network tools with a training GUI, running on Zebra's WEAVER inference engine.
Aurora Vision Studio's spec sheet, previously published under the Adaptive Vision name, lists more than 3,500 ready-to-use filters and over 15 years of development history. The software is hardware-independent, with support for most industrial cameras and 3D sensors through GenTL and GigE Vision, and it now runs on both Windows and Linux. Engineers can build and deploy custom HMI and WebHMI interfaces from inside the same environment, and the platform supports parallel processing, hardware acceleration, and embedded C/C++ code. Projects export directly into C++, C#, or VB applications.
The interesting part for engineers already running Adaptive Vision Studio deployments is that Zebra says none of the underlying architecture changes with the rebrand. Existing GenTL and GigE Vision camera integrations, filter libraries, and exported C++/C#/VB code should carry over without modification.
What Zebra has not detailed publicly is how the rebrand affects licensing terms, support contracts, or pricing for customers who bought under the Adaptive Vision name. The move folds another acquired machine vision brand into Zebra's broader industrial automation lineup, alongside its barcode scanning and RFID hardware, but the company has not published a migration timeline for existing installations.
