WENZEL has released WM | Quartis R2026-2, the latest version of its coordinate measuring machine software. The update is a broad set of everyday improvements rather than one marquee feature, with the biggest gains in standards-compliant evaluation, cleaner handling of partial scan data, and support for automotive inspection formats. It follows R2026-1 from January.
The change most metrologists will notice first is on evaluation. Parallelism can now be assessed with an ISO GPS orientation indicator, so the result reflects how a modern GD&T callout is actually specified rather than approximating it. Line profile picks up a tolerance zone that varies along the curve instead of a fixed width. For anyone whose report has to match the drawing exactly, that is the practical payoff.
The release also does more with imperfect data. When only part of a circle has been scanned, the software can hold the position, the diameter, or both to keep the fit stable, and it can now merge separately measured arcs into one circle while correcting for offsets between them. In plain terms, partial scans and multi-probe setups produce a usable result with less manual cleanup.
The most concrete additions are aimed at automotive work. Quartis now reads more geometry types from the Daimler/Audi inspection format and can generate symmetry elements for those plans automatically, which matters to suppliers who inspect to OEM templates. For the engineers who want the specifics, the notable items are:
- Parallelism evaluation with an ISO GPS orientation indicator, and line profile with a linearly varying tolerance zone
- Constrained circle fitting (hold position, diameter, or both) plus a new position alignment for merging arcs
- CB, LB, EH, and DH measurement principles supported in the Daimler/Audi Inspection Feature ASCII format
- Feature data export to customer-specific JSON structures for MES and database integration
- Point cloud filtering by normal direction, new ROI methods, and axially shiftable element ROIs
- Updated CAD interfaces, with Parasolid, Siemens NX, and Solid Edge revised since R2026-1
- Rotary-table scanning, accessory handling, and 3D graphics also see smaller updates, including an RS-T roughness mode that briefly deactivates the air bearings to cut vibration.
As with earlier versions, some features sit in separately licensed modules.
