Visometry has released Twyn 2.6, the latest version of its mobile augmented reality inspection platform, adding what the company calls a "faster, easier, and more flexible" set of tools for component inspection and project setup.
The headline feature lets users attach reference material directly to Inspection Points inside Twyn Studio, the project-preparation software that feeds Twyn View on the tablet. Beyond CAD geometry, points can now carry text notes plus welding specifications, inspection records, work instructions, images, and CSV, Excel, or PDF files, all anchored to a specific location on the component. The goal, according to Visometry, is to keep requirements visible during the inspection itself rather than in a separate document.
The update also introduces two new point types, "Check" and "Remark," for situations that don't fit a pre-planned inspection point with a fixed spatial reference, such as spontaneous observations or general notes. Engineers running inspections on large or geometrically complex assemblies will likely notice the new Navigation Assistant most: it provides step-by-step visual guidance in the AR view to walk an operator to each inspection point, cutting down the search time that comes with dense part layouts.
On the tablet side, Twyn 2.6 streamlines the Observation Capture Panel, making "Classification," "Photo Capture," and "Next/Prev" controls quicker to reach during a session. The code scanner now reads a wider range of barcodes and QR codes, letting users name an inspection session directly from a part number encoded in a scanned label. A new "Fast Snap" feature addresses one of the more time-consuming steps in mobile AR inspection: initial alignment. Instead of requiring an operator to precisely position the tablet before tracking begins, Twyn automatically generates multiple candidate positions around the displayed start pose, letting the system lock onto the component faster and with less manual readjustment.
Visometry has also added Hungarian, bringing Twyn's interface and reporting to 15 supported languages. CEO and co-founder Dr. Harald Wuest said the 2.6 release "reflects how we align our product development with user feedback," with the new features drawn from "close dialogue" with customers, a group that includes Maschinenfabrik Bernard KRONE, HD Hyundai Electric, and Wisag Produktionsservice.
