Hexagon has released VGSTUDIO MAX 2026.2, an update to its industrial CT analysis software that introduces automated multipart coordinate measurement workflows and a restructured five-edition product portfolio. The centerpiece change lets quality teams load an entire batch of CT scans, define measurements once, and have the software synchronize them automatically across every part in a shared scene, cutting inspection preparation time by up to 50 percent, the company says.
The multipart workflow keeps all CM objects synchronized by default, removing the need to manually reconfigure measurement plans or reconcile results across separate files. Peter Lohel, Product Marketing Manager at Hexagon's Stationary Metrology Division, said the post-scan steps have historically been the biggest drain on quality teams. "Users can define their measurements once, then the software does the rest," he said. The CM Overview integrates directly into the workflow, supporting statistical process control charts without a context switch.
Engineers managing high-volume schedules across aerospace, automotive, or medical device production will find the batch control flexible. Users can define multiple measurement groups, detach individual parts for exceptions, and reattach them without disrupting the wider project. Cross-part deviation analysis runs within the same scene.
The 2026.2 release also reorders VGSTUDIO MAX into five editions. Essential, expanded over the previous basic version, now includes entry-level porosity analysis and AI-powered deep segmentation. Dimensions packages full GD&T, wall thickness analysis, deformation analysis, and CAD import with PMI. Analysis covers casting and material science with fiber orientation, foam and powder analysis, and volume meshing for simulation output. Battery extends Analysis with dedicated battery-cell tools, and Pro covers the full feature set.
Beyond the portfolio restructure, 2026.2 adds expanded GelSight profile roughness analysis, native ASTM E57 point cloud format support, a redesigned displacement analysis interface, compliance with the ISO 5459:2024 planar datum fit standard, and a fast mode for porosity analysis that delivers voxel-count results without full quantification on large datasets. Deep segmentation now runs across multiple GPUs in parallel. The NextGen portfolio structure also extends to VGMETROLOGY, available in Essential and Pro editions.
