Vaisala launched Vaisala Indigo Supervisor, a system that lets data center operators manage up to 100 environmental measurement points as a single unit rather than track sensors individually. The company says growing monitoring needs are shifting the challenge from measurement coverage to operational scalability, particularly as AI workloads push compute density and construction timelines higher.
The system aggregates readings across data halls, technical spaces, and support areas into a local touchscreen interface, then routes them into a building management system through one standardized connection instead of multiple sensor-by-sensor links. For teams managing facilities with hundreds of measurement points spread across a growing footprint, that consolidation cuts the commissioning and maintenance overhead that comes with wiring and configuring each sensor separately.
Indigo Supervisor acts as a host unit for Vaisala's daisy-chained, compact measurement probes, and it supports up to two independent probe chains, each accommodating up to 50 probes. It works with the company's XMP10, HMP110, HMP113, and TMP115 probes. Commissioning runs through web-based tools, and operators can swap probes directly at the touchscreen interface, which also displays local dashboards, measurement readouts, alarm management, and calibration information.
The unit integrates with building management systems over Modbus TCP/IP, and its system configuration exports as CSV, a format meant to speed commissioning and deployment across multiple sites. "When a facility has tens or hundreds of measurement points, environmental monitoring can no longer be managed sensor by sensor," said Anu Kätkä, product line manager for HVAC and critical buildings at Vaisala. "Operators need a system-level approach to environmental monitoring that can be commissioned efficiently, maintained without disrupting operations, and scaled consistently as capacity increases."
Vaisala positions Indigo Supervisor within its broader data center portfolio, though the company says the system also fits other multi-point monitoring environments, including cleanrooms, greenhouses, cold storage facilities, laboratories, and industrial process settings. Indigo Supervisor is expected to become available in early 2027.
