Digital Metrology Solutions has launched TraceBossPro, the top tier of its TraceBoss surface roughness software family, targeting production environments where operators need measurement configurations that can be locked down, switched on the fly, and traced back to a defined setup.
TraceBoss, introduced several years ago, gave shop-floor operators a way to visualize and save data from portable stylus gauges that typically only display a single number. TraceBoss+ folded in crosshatch analysis from the company's HatchView software. What's new in TraceBossPro is the move from a fixed parameter set to a fully configurable one: users can select from hundreds of ISO 21920 and ASME surface texture parameters, assign different combinations to each part configuration, and set individual tolerance limits per parameter.
Engineers working with waviness will notice a specific addition: TraceBossPro includes the ISO 16610 spline filter, which enables full-length surface measurement, something the earlier tiers could not support. Configuration switching takes one click from a dropdown, and the main settings screen can be locked out entirely to enforce consistency across multiple operators.
"TraceBoss and TraceBoss+ gave users a straightforward interface and parameter set, significantly extending the capabilities of common, handheld roughness gages," said Mark Malburg, President of Digital Metrology Solutions. "We reached a tipping point where many users were requesting even greater power. TraceBossPro moves beyond the locked-down capabilities, adding configurability and analysis power."
The software interfaces with a range of existing portable gauges, including several Mitutoyo Surftest models (SJ-210, SJ-220, SJ-301, SJ-410 series, and SJ-400), the Zeiss/ACCRETECH Handysurf+ and Surfcom TOUCH 50, the MarSurf M 310, Hommel-Etamic LV17/W5/W10, the Surtronic S100 and S128, and SM Metrology's LITEsurf. A 10-day trial is available. The software requires Windows 10 or later (64-bit) and a minimum of 2 GB RAM.
