Teledyne e2v has added two new sensors, Flash 1K2 and Flash 8K, to its Flash CMOS image sensor family, extending the lineup's resolution range from 1K up to 8K. The company announced the additions on September 8, 2026, alongside the existing Flash 2K and Flash 4K sensors already on the market.

Flash 1K2, a 1K x 1K sensor, reaches up to 3,000 frames per second at full frame, the fastest in the Flash lineup and roughly double the 1,500 fps top speed of Flash 2K. Teledyne e2v built the sensor for capturing fast-moving events and high-speed measurement tasks. Flash 8K, an 8K x 1K sensor, tops out at 1,800 fps, matching Flash 4K's full-frame rate while doubling the horizontal resolution. The company positions Flash 8K for 3D laser profiling and high-speed, high-resolution inspection systems.

What's new here is the shared architecture. All four Flash sensors run on the same 6 µm CMOS global shutter pixel and a single-tap design, so engineers can move between resolution and speed tiers without re-qualifying optics or reworking the acquisition pipeline.

Every sensor in the family also supports high dynamic range modes up to 100 dB, multiple regions of interest, and frame-to-frame programmability, letting integrators tune exposure and readout on the fly for varying lighting or part geometry.

Teledyne e2v frames the four-sensor lineup as a way for customers to "select the optimal combination of resolution, speed, and system cost" without switching development platforms.
