SiLC Technologies has launched the Eyeonic Edge, a 4D area scanner targeting large stationary objects at distances up to 10 meters. The product comes in two variants: the Eyeonic Edge, which delivers 200 μm range precision at ranges up to 10 meters, and the Eyeonic Edge Ultra, which tightens precision to 100 μm but limits range to 5 meters.
The launch extends the Eyeonic line beyond the Eyeonic Trace, which the company describes as "the industry's first laser line scanner to achieve 100-micron range precision at a distance of 5 meters." Trace is designed for objects moving on a conveyor belt. What's new here is the form factor: the Edge is an area scanner with a software-defined field of view up to 40x40 degrees, supporting real-time region of interest selection and zooming, rather than the Eyeonic Trace's line-scan approach.
Both Edge variants capture 4D data, meaning each of the 1 million points per second measured includes an instantaneous velocity reading alongside XYZ coordinates. A built-in polarimeter enables material and surface characterization. SiLC says the sensors maintain sub-millimeter precision on low-reflectivity and specular surfaces, operate across all lighting conditions from dim indoor to direct sunlight, and are unaffected by interference from strobes or competing sensors. The sensor carries a Class 1 laser rating.
Mehdi Asghari, CEO of SiLC Technologies, said the Trace and Edge together "provide a complete sensing solution capable of delivering accurate measurements and inspections of moving or stationary objects in virtually any environment, from factory floors to outdoor operations." Stated applications include gap-and-flush measurement and panel alignment in automotive, aerospace, and shipbuilding manufacturing, dimensional verification for large assembled components, vehicle condition scanning for rental fleets, and digital twin creation for mining and construction equipment.
SiLC is demonstrating both product families at AUTOMATE 2026 in Chicago through June 25 at booth 14015. Investors in SiLC include Dell Technologies Capital, Sony Innovation Fund by IGV, Honda Xcelerator Ventures, and FLUXUNIT, the ams OSRAM venture fund.
