Optical Gaging Products (OGP) has introduced the SmartScope E18, a benchtop video measurement system that packs a 300 by 300 millimeter (12 by 12 inch) XY stage into a compact footprint. The system performs fully automatic 3-axis measurement, built for production floors and quality labs where floor space is limited. "By maximizing the available XY measuring range while minimizing the system footprint, the E18 gives manufacturers a practical way to increase measurement automation without compromising valuable production space," said Tim Fantauzzo, vice president of North American sales at OGP.
The E18 runs on OGP's IntelliCentric-E fixed-lens optical system, paired with the company's VIRTUAL ZOOM technology to extend measurement detail without a motorized zoom lens. LED illumination comes standard, with coaxial, substage profile, and SmartRing lighting built into the system rather than sold as options. For a shop floor weighing whether to add automated inspection capacity without expanding its footprint, that combination of stage size and integrated lighting matters more than any single spec taken alone.
Structurally, OGP paired a compact fixed-bridge design with a heavy-duty base and orthogonal construction for measurement stability. Buyers can add an optional touch probe to the E18, combining optical and tactile measurement on one automated platform.
Measure-X software comes standard on the E18. ZONE3, the company's software for full 3D measurement, is now available across the SmartScope E-Series line as well, giving buyers of OGP's other compact video systems a path to 3D measurement without switching platforms.
