Optical Gaging Products has released the StarLite S1, a compact 3-axis video measurement system that pairs fully automatic video measurement with manual stage motion. Built for inspection on the shop floor and in the metrology lab, it features the new IntelliCentric-S Optical System, which combines fixed-lens optics with VIRTUAL ZOOM technology across a 150 x 75 x 125 mm measurement volume.
What's new here is the IntelliCentric-S optical system. OGP built it around fixed lenses augmented by VIRTUAL ZOOM, providing variable magnification without motorized zoom mechanics, which the company says yields fast, repeatable accuracy.
Three lens options are available at launch. The standard S 8.10 lens supports VIRTUAL ZOOM. The S 16.10 offers wide field-of-view with a long working distance. The S 4.5 targets high-magnification work and ships with a Conical SmartRing illuminator. Engineers who currently rely on optical comparators or toolmaker's microscopes for high-magnification checks are the stated alternative target.
The standard lighting configuration includes LED coaxial, substage profile, and SmartRing ring-light illumination. SmartRing provides programmable control of both light direction and incidence angle, which OGP says enables effective inspection of challenging part features.
StarLite S1 runs Measure-X metrology software. The platform supports programmable measurement routines that guide operators through automated inspection sequences, an approach aimed at reducing reliance on operator expertise in production environments. Tim Fantauzzo, Vice President of North American Sales at OGP, called it "one of the easiest-to-use precision measurement systems offered by OGP." Pricing was not disclosed at launch.
