Novarc's NovAI Autonomy is an AI-powered adaptive welding module that removes the pre-scanning step from robotic welding setups and handles seam tracking, tack fusion, and fit-up variations without operator intervention. The system pairs machine vision with real-time AI adjustments to respond to weld pool conditions as they change, rather than relying on a pre-programmed path that assumes consistent part geometry.

The novel part is the in-process compensation. Traditional robotic welding requires accurate part fixturing and, in many setups, a pre-scan pass to map joint geometry before the arc starts. NovAI Autonomy skips that scan and instead adapts during the weld, automatically modifying parameters for root openings and seam offsets as they appear. The company says this allows wider tolerances in part dimensions and positioning, which reduces fixture costs and enables faster changeovers between part runs.

The system includes Automated Tack Fusion Technology, which detects tack welds along a joint and ensures they are properly fused rather than bridged over. A tele welding option lets operators monitor and control from a distance, reducing exposure to heat, fumes, and confined spaces. Novarc says weld data and video are continuously fed back into the AI models to improve seam tracking accuracy over time.

Quality tracking runs through the NovHub Dashboard, a centralized platform that logs weld data and video for every pass and supports traceability down to individual components. The dashboard offers remote monitoring, targeted containment tools for isolating quality escapes, root-cause analysis, and exportable records for compliance and warranty documentation. Engineers who need to demonstrate weld quality to a customer or auditor will find the traceability layer considerably more useful than a standalone robot controller log.

NovAI Autonomy integrates with Universal Robots, Yaskawa, ABB, and Fanuc systems, among others, making it deployable across existing robot cells without requiring a dedicated platform. Deployment is subscription-based. Novarc has not disclosed pricing, but the subscription includes ongoing AI model updates, which matters given that the system's accuracy depends on continuous feedback from weld data logged during production.
