MICROTECH has added wireless data transfer to its DataMet SHORE F durometer, a handheld hardness tester built on the company's patented computerized measuring system (Ukrainian patents UA126928 and UA99686). The instrument is designated HF and carries a list price of 810 euros, exclusive of taxes.

The built-in tablet measuring module reads at 50 values per second and stores up to 2,000 measurements internally, organized within a folder structure with integrated statistics. The module supports Go/NoGo limit checking with color-coded pass/fail indication, peak maximum and minimum capture, and both manual temperature compensation and linear compensation, all without connecting to a PC.

The interesting part for QA teams building networked inspection cells is the connectivity range. The DataMet SHORE F streams data wirelessly to MICROTECH's MDS app, available free for Windows, Android, and iOS. It also operates in wireless HID mode, appearing as a keyboard input to any software that accepts text input. An optional MODBUS output over four-wire RS-485 adds PLC integration for in-line hardness monitoring. USB HID is available as a wired alternative.

Additional tablet module features include an on-line graphical mode, a color analog adjustable scale, hub connectivity for external MICROTECH wireless devices, and PROBE connection with auto mode for wireless indicator and lever indicator linking. The unit runs on a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery charged over micro-USB, with firmware updates delivered through the same port.

MICROTECH states all DataMet SHORE testers pass metrological control in an ISO 17025 ILAC-accredited laboratory using an automated calibration stand. The DataMet line's free MDS software, spanning Windows, Android, and iOS, means the wireless link operates without a proprietary dongle or a paid data acquisition license.
