Metrologic DCS, a Sandvik Intelligent Manufacturing company, has released Metrolog V25 and an updated version of 3DCS, its tolerance analysis platform, adding AI chat assistants to both products and removing the CAD model requirement for programming coordinate measuring machines. "These releases are about one thing: giving quality teams back their time," said Karolina Malyska, VP Product and Innovation at Metrologic DCS.

Metrolog V25's CAD-free programming lets operators define nominal values by probing the part directly at the CMM, with a new clearance mode calculating collision-free trajectories. That removes a modeling step teams previously had to complete before touching the machine, according to Metrologic DCS, which points to field technicians and markets where CAD data is not always available as the main beneficiaries. The release also adds a Digital Twin++ mode with real-time head axis position tracking through the UCC server, Clearance Box support for I++, and DMIS-language management of SNSLCT and HEADCS, which the company says lays groundwork for future Revo and PH20 head configurations.

Engineers who program CMMs away from a desk, on the shop floor or at a customer site, will care most about the CAD-free workflow, since it removes the back-and-forth between machine and computer that manual teaching previously required.

On the 3DCS side, the new Drive to Nominal feature, also called AAO, analyzes measured assembly data and determines which fixture locators to adjust, the minimum number of changes needed, and the exact distance to move each one. A Multi-Measure Optimization mode evaluates every assembly measurement together, so correcting one dimension does not create new deviations elsewhere. The release also adds Copilot, an AI assistant that answers natural-language questions from 3DCS documentation, built, according to 3DCS Product Director Steve Bannash, to sit "in the moment the engineer needs it." DVM, the platform's entry-level tolerance analysis tool, now includes Monte Carlo simulation for statistically realistic variation predictions and an enhanced Step Plane Move for modeling datum and fixture behavior, with models upgradeable to full 3DCS Variation Analyst without a rebuild.

Metrolog V25 also broadens hardware support, adding native integration for Creaform's Handyscan Evo scanner and Scanology's tracked and handheld scanning devices, plus a new confocal sensor option on ESPI CMMs that Metrologic DCS says it added at the request of a partner OEM and shared customers. Metrologic DCS plans to demonstrate both platforms at IMTS 2026 in Chicago, running September 14 to 19 at booth 134728.
