Mastercam and ToolHive are launching an integration that connects ToolHive's cloud-based tool management platform directly to Mastercam's CAM programming software, the companies announced September 10 ahead of IMTS 2026. The pitch, in the companies' own words, is closing "the missing link between CAM programming and the shop floor": the gap between the tooling a program calls for and what's actually built and available at the machine.
ToolHive centralizes tool libraries, tool assemblies, manufacturer tooling data, availability status and work order tracking in a single cloud platform, replacing the mix of spreadsheets and word-of-mouth many shops still rely on to track tooling. The integration lets Mastercam programmers pull that data and existing tool assemblies straight into their CAM programs, cutting manual re-entry and aligning what a program specifies with what the toolroom actually has on hand.
For a shop floor, tooling mismatches are usually where downtime starts, not on the machine itself. A programmer who specifies an assembly the toolroom hasn't built, or a technician who discovers a tool missing only after the job reaches the machine, has already lost the time the integration is meant to save.
ToolHive is aimed at small and mid-sized shops rather than the enterprise tool management systems that typically require dedicated IT support to deploy. Mastercam and ToolHive describe it as a faster, lighter-weight way for those shops to give programmers, toolroom staff, setup technicians and machinists a shared source of tooling information without new infrastructure.
Mastercam and ToolHive are demonstrating the integration live at IMTS 2026, and shops that sign up for ToolHive through October 31, 2026, can get 25 percent off a subscription. Neither company has published pricing for ToolHive outside that promotional window.
