Maguar Capital, a Munich-based investor focused on small and mid-sized B2B software companies, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in ConSense GmbH, the Aachen-based quality management software provider, the companies announced August 26, 2026. The three managing partners who run ConSense will retain a significant minority stake and stay on to lead the company through its next growth phase alongside Maguar.
ConSense builds modular quality and integrated management system (QMS/IMS) software that digitizes audit trails, links work instructions, and keeps documentation revision-proof for companies operating under strict regulatory oversight. Founded in 2003, the company has built what it calls a "loyal" customer base concentrated in pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and the energy and infrastructure sector, industries where certification and audit-readiness carry real financial stakes. The software runs both as on-premise installations and as cloud deployments.
The more specific technical detail in the announcement concerns where the product is headed. ConSense already runs on a cloud-native platform called NX, and Dr. Alexander Künzer, one of ConSense's managing partners, said the company is now building a successor called AX: "agentic management systems" in which AI agents maintain the entire body of quality documentation, from processes and work instructions to governance records, while final decision-making authority stays with people. What's new here is the shift from the AI-assisted audit prep and standards research ConSense already offers toward agents that actively keep documentation current and standards-compliant rather than just searching it.
Maguar plans to expand ConSense's go-to-market organization and grow its position in the German-speaking small and mid-size market before pursuing international expansion in stages. ConSense software is already deployed in more than fifty countries. The deal marks Maguar's entry into quality-management software specifically, an addition to a broader mandate that covers small and mid-sized software companies across the DACH region and selected other European markets.
