KPM Analytics announced the MCT700 Series of in-line near-infrared sensors on August 5, 2026, expanding its product line for food processing quality control. The series includes three models, the MCT790, MCT750, and MCT700, built for continuous, non-contact measurement of moisture, fat and oil content, and product temperature over conveyors, augers, and chutes. The MCT790 adds a new capability to the line: product color measurement.
The MCT790 targets hot, greasy, and wet production environments. Its housing is stainless steel with an IP69K rating, meaning it can be washed down with the harsh cleaning solutions common in food plants. An internal fan handles thermal management, and the line-mounted display carries a separate IP67 rating. The MCT700 and MCT750 skip color measurement but share the same moisture, fat and oil, and temperature readings. The MCT700 uses a standard Kel-F sensor window and an IP67 rating, while the MCT750 steps up to a sapphire window, additional cooling, and an IP69K rating.
What's new here is the option to scan an entire belt width instead of a single spot. Each MCT700 Series sensor can integrate with a traversing frame, moving across a conveyor and parking over individual product lanes. Engineers running industrial ovens with multiple heating zones will care about that detail, since it lets them track how each zone affects the product separately rather than averaging results across the belt.
All three models measure up to 100 readings per second, fast enough to track segmented products like cookies and crackers as they move down the line. KPM Analytics positions the sensors as a replacement for periodic sampling and at-line testing, arguing that continuous data lets operators adjust equipment like ovens and sprayers in real time. "Continuous measurement enables rapid response to production issues, which supports the business objectives of increasing productivity and decreasing waste," said Chris Pike, senior director of product management at KPM Analytics.
