KITOV.ai has introduced the KITOV X-Prime System, an automated visual inspection platform built for high-value, single-material parts with complex geometries. The company positions the system for aerospace, defense, medical device, and turbine and engine manufacturing, where it says conventional machine vision and manual inspection struggle to deliver reliable defect sensitivity and full coverage on intricate parts.
X-Prime runs on KITOV's CAD2SCAN engine, which converts 3D CAD models or 3D scans directly into robotic inspection routines. The engine determines camera and illumination placement along with multi-axis robot positioning needed to cover geometries that are difficult to reach with fixed camera rigs. A deep-learning detection layer, tuned for single-material components, then screens the resulting images for micro-defects, scratches, dents, and other surface anomalies. What's new here is the direct CAD-to-inspection pipeline: engineers start from the same model used for design and machining instead of hand-programming robot paths and camera angles for each part.
The workflow itself is organized into seven stages, Define, Configure, Plan, Enroll, Scan, Review, and Analytics, consolidated into one workspace that KITOV.ai says reduces setup time and operator complexity. The system also maps defect images back onto the original 3D model through a bidirectional overlay, and it stores a per-part record for defect trend analysis and digital traceability across production runs.
KITOV.ai built X-Prime on what it calls a "metrology-ready architecture," intended to integrate downstream 3D measurement sensors alongside the optical vision hardware in future deployments. "KITOV X-Prime represents a major step forward in automated surface inspection, bringing the sensitivity required for high-end optical inspection to single-material parts with complex geometries where traditional visual inspection falls short," said Dr. Yossi Rubner, founder and CTO at KITOV.ai.
KITOV X-Prime is set to become commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2026. KITOV.ai plans to run the system live at IMTS in Chicago, September 14 through 19, ahead of that commercial rollout.
