Gen Precision has launched the GTK-SPT1, an automated DIMM final test system built to help memory makers keep up with surging demand from AI and server DRAM production. The system takes over final functional and burn-in verification of completed DIMM modules, a step that Gen Precision says was previously a "manual, one-by-one" process on lines making DDR4 and DDR5.
A robotic arm picks and places two DIMMs at a time for testing, while the system automates loading and unloading so multiple modules move through verification together instead of one at a time. GTK-SPT1 can be configured for both Long-DIMM and SO-DIMM form factors and can run its test process either before or after heat sink installation, depending on the product line. It also integrates with a customer's existing test software, functioning as a complete automated final-test workstation rather than a standalone tool.
Engineers running DIMM test floors will care about the labor math here. Gen Precision says automated batch operation cuts operator handling time by approximately 97 percent, freeing staff to step away from the station during the test cycle instead of monitoring modules one by one. Under current test conditions, GTK-SPT1 processes about two DIMMs per minute and automatically logs test data, adding a traceability record to each module's final-test history. "Automation should do more than remove manual steps," said Yulin Lee, vice president of automation at Gen Precision. "It should help manufacturers make better use of the test capacity already in place."
The launch lands as DDR4 and DDR5 output faces pressure from AI server buildouts, pushing memory makers to squeeze more throughput from existing test capacity rather than simply adding headcount or floor space. Gen Precision, which has previously deployed automation systems with memory manufacturers, designed GTK-SPT1 with a reduced footprint meant to fit into existing lines. Beyond this system, the company says it can add robotics, PLC control, and automated optical inspection to test cells as needed, backed by in-house precision machining and tooling for custom fixtures.
