GageList has added Clarity to its cloud calibration management platform, an AI feature that reads incoming calibration certificates and drafts the matching gauge records for human review. The company calls GageList the "first" calibration management platform to do this. Clarity shipped in GageList Cloud version 4.18.0.225 on Aug. 20, 2026, after a preview at the NCSLI Workshop and Symposium.
Calibration labs email certificates to a private, white-listed inbox, or users upload them in bulk. Clarity reads each one, matches it to the correct gauge and stages a draft record. A team member checks the extracted data beside the original document, edits as needed and approves. One approval creates the record, updates due dates and attaches the certificate, with a full audit trail.
Clarity accepts PDF, JPEG and PNG files from any lab, in almost any layout or language. That includes handwritten certificates, mixed handwritten and printed pages, and multipage documents. It also separates a gauge's own due date from the due dates of the calibration standards listed on the same page. Users choose which fields to extract and can tune the AI's prompts, including combining multiple data points such as temperature and humidity into a single custom field.
In internal testing on 643 real-world certificates, GageList says Clarity cut processing time from 8–10 minutes per certificate to seconds, an estimated reduction of up to 98 percent. For quality teams that key certificate data in by hand, that is the task being replaced. When GageList polled its launch-webinar audience, monthly certificate volumes ranged from 15 to well over 200, and every respondent entered them manually.
Clarity runs in a closed, private environment on Microsoft Azure AI. According to GageList, certificate data is never used to train AI models and never shared with outside parties, and the company is independently audited to SOC 2 Type II. "The AI assists. It doesn't decide," says Doug Wheeler, GageList's creator. "Every record is reviewed and approved by a person before it becomes part of your quality system."
Clarity is included in the Plus, Pro, Max and Multisite plans with 100 pages of certificate processing per month. Additional usage is priced on consumption. The road map lists direct API intake from calibration labs and support for the digital calibration certificate (DCC) standard. A later capability would check certificates against ISO/IEC 17025 and user-defined criteria, flagging missing content or out-of-range results before an auditor finds them.
