FARO CREAFORM, a business unit of AMETEK, on July 8 added four models to its HandySCAN 3D family: the HandySCAN EVO, HandySCAN EVO Plus, HandySCAN MAX EVO, and HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite. The two MAX additions extend the EVO platform to the HandySCAN 3D MAX series for large-part inspection, pairing wireless operation with applications in quality control, quality assurance, reverse engineering, and non-destructive testing.
The MAX models offer two accuracy tiers. The HandySCAN MAX EVO carries volumetric accuracy of 0.150 mm + 0.020 mm/m, targeting product development workflows. The HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite reaches 0.075 mm + 0.010 mm/m for inspection and NDT tasks requiring tighter tolerances. Both are tested in ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories and conform to VDI/VDE 2634 standards. Engineers who currently route large parts to fixed measurement setups for dimensional sign-off will note that the Elite's specification puts portable scanning within range of tasks previously requiring a stationary solution.
Paired with the Mobility Kit, both MAX models operate cable-free, reducing fixed-workstation dependency on the shop floor. Embedded screens and guided workflows compress the scan-to-report process without an intermediate workstation step.
The HandySCAN EVO and HandySCAN EVO Plus extend the EVO platform's user experience improvements, including on-scanner visualization and simplified guided workflows, to everyday inspection in the standard HandySCAN 3D line. The EVO Series recently received a Red Dot Design Award for ergonomic design. Elite models across both EVO and MAX lines add QR code reading for faster inspection program launch. All four devices integrate with the Creaform Metrology Suite.
Pricing and availability timelines were not announced. The four new models complete a unification of the HandySCAN 3D family under the EVO platform architecture, with the Creaform Metrology Suite now serving as a single software environment across the lineup from compact parts through large, complex assemblies.
