Datanomix and Hexagon have connected Datanomix G-Code Cloud + DNC to Hexagon's Cloud platform, automating the handoff between CAM programming and the machine control. Programmers still write and prove toolpaths in Hexagon's Esprit Edge software. Once a setup is finished, the NC program, print, setup sheet, and tooling documentation upload to Hexagon Cloud, where Datanomix G-Code Cloud + DNC places everything under revision control and files it by part number.
That solves a specific problem on the shop floor: proving which program revision actually ran on a given part. "Every shop has the same gap, and it's right where programming ends, and production begins," said Greg McHale, founder and CEO of Datanomix. "Programming and the machine should not be two different systems of record, with people guessing whether the right program is running, the right setup sheets were used, or where the right version of these artifacts even lives." Once engineering approves a revision, it syncs automatically to the operator's Machine HUD as a single "Digital Production Bundle," the same interface Datanomix already uses for production monitoring. Nothing reaches a machine that hasn't been formally released.
The connection also closes the loop in the other direction. Edits an operator makes at the control are logged against the delivered program and returned to engineering as change requests, rather than getting reworked into the next job from memory or lost entirely. "Recurring work may return months or years later, after machines, tooling and personnel have changed," said Zoltan Tomoga, product manager at Hexagon's Production Software Division. "Returning controller edits to engineering as change requests helps programmers understand what was learned during the previous production run, decide what remains relevant, and incorporate the right changes into the next approved version."
For shops running medical, defense, or aerospace work, that record matters beyond convenience. Programs managed through the connection sit on a platform built for CMMC 2.0, with encryption, role-based access, and an audit trail logging who changed what and when. G-Code Cloud can also run compliance scans across a shop's full program library and report where it meets standards and where it doesn't.
Datanomix and Hexagon plan to demonstrate the integration at IMTS 2026 in Chicago, running September 14–19, at the Datanomix booth (135521) and the Hexagon booth (133210).
