Blue Mountain on Wednesday announced general availability of RAM Discover, a conversational AI intelligence engine extending the company's Blue Mountain RAM platform for life sciences manufacturers working under GMP compliance requirements.
Where conventional EAM and CMMS reporting tools show what happened, RAM Discover identifies why maintenance and calibration problems occurred, connects related operational events, and recommends corrective actions ranked by expected operational impact. Users can query the system in natural language, asking about maintenance performance, calibration activity, asset reliability, compliance trends, or workflow bottlenecks. The system draws on validated operational data to return context-linked explanations rather than isolated metrics.
The interesting part for calibration and reliability engineers is where domain specificity enters. RAM Discover embeds life sciences industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and reliability benchmarks into each analysis, and maintains full audit traceability throughout. Blue Mountain's argument is that generic AI platforms lack the validated data structures and regulatory context needed in FDA-regulated and GxP-compliant production environments.
RAM Discover occupies the second of three phases in Blue Mountain's published AI roadmap. The first, Assist, covers validated question-answering and knowledge support. The Augment phase, now generally available through RAM Discover, focuses on context-aware decision support for maintenance and reliability teams. A third phase, Automate, covering AI-driven workflow execution, is described as a future capability without a specific timeline.
"RAM Discover brings intelligent analysis directly into the daily workflows of maintenance and reliability teams," said Judy Fainor, chief technology officer at Blue Mountain. "The insights are contextual, explainable, and tailored to the needs of regulated life sciences manufacturers." Blue Mountain's platform currently serves more than 450 life sciences companies. The Automate phase, once released, would complete the company's stated AI build-out and extend autonomous workflow execution across GMP-regulated asset management.
