AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to put Agility's Digit humanoid robot to work at AGCO's production facility in Hesston, Kansas. The pilot is expected to begin in 2027. The companies describe the effort as a step toward "flexible, intelligent factories."
Digit will start with parts sorting and stacking, plus placing totes into storage. AGCO makes agricultural machinery under the Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx and Valtra brands. It says the robot will take over repetitive and physically demanding tasks to improve ergonomic safety and operational efficiency. Thomas Enghof, AGCO's Director of Manufacturing Technology, called humanoid robotics and AI essential "teammates" in the plant and said the work will run under "strict safety governance."
Agility says Digit learns and adapts as workflows change. It pairs with Agility Arc, the company's cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets. For automation engineers, the claim to watch is Agility's statement that Arc lets companies add robots without "extensive infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades."
Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer of Agility Robotics, said the deployment gives the two companies a chance to "demonstrate how advanced robotics can create measurable impact" in production environments. AGCO joins Toyota, GXO and Schaeffler among the companies deploying Digit. Agility cites more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation for its robots.
Agility is also preparing to go public through a previously announced business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. The SEC declared the registration statement effective on October 13, 2026, and the combined company is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker "AGLT."
