Advantive, a specialty manufacturing and distribution software provider, acquired Insequence on May 26, adding a 30-year automotive just-in-sequence (JIS) and manufacturing execution system (MES) platform to its portfolio. Insequence, based in Smyrna, Tennessee, supports hundreds of facilities across North America, South America, and Europe and serves the supplier networks of more than 20 global automotive OEMs.
The acquisition deepens Advantive's footprint in automotive specifically. Insequence's platform spans JIS applications, MES, scheduling, inventory management, and data warehousing, all purpose-built for the automotive supplier ecosystem. Engineers working in just-in-sequence environments will recognize what this adds: JIS synchronization demands tighter plant floor coordination than standard MES covers, and Insequence has focused on that gap since 1996.
Duane George, CEO of Advantive, tied the deal to the company's Advantive ONE AI platform, describing the goal as "connecting plant floor data with AI-driven insights to enable smarter, faster decision-making across the automotive ecosystem." Tom Mitchell, President and CEO of Insequence, pointed to Advantive's scale as an accelerant for AI capability adoption, without specifying a product timeline.
Before this deal, Advantive's manufacturing software portfolio already covered food and beverage, aerospace and defense, packaging, and construction alongside automotive. The company reports over 7,270 customers in 88 countries. Adding Insequence concentrates automotive depth rather than broadening the sector footprint.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Insequence customers are slated to receive access to Advantive ONE platform developments over time, though no specific integration roadmap was announced.
