ABB Robotics has added AI Robot Trainer to OmniCore EyeMotion, its vision software for OmniCore-controlled robots. ABB says customers can now train, deploy and keep refining AI-based vision applications without building models from scratch. The company claims commissioning time falls by "up to 90 percent" and cycle time by "up to 50 percent."

The cycle time figure depends on pairing the software with automatic collision-free path planning. That RobotWare feature takes live input from the vision system and other sensors, then generates paths around static and dynamic obstacles. In ABB's description, the setup converts what the camera sees directly into robot motion.

AI Robot Trainer turns real shop floor images into deployable vision data. It mixes synthetic and real-world images with ABB's own industrial knowledge. A guided workflow and an AI chatbot walk users through each step, which ABB says helps integrators cope with changing SKUs, lighting, layouts and object variations. The software works with any brand of camera and sensor.

OmniCore EyeMotion already lets users build 2D and 3D vision programs by dragging and dropping function blocks inside RobotStudio, adding vision commands to the RAPID programming language. For manufacturing and automation engineers, the pitch is fewer AI specialists per cell, since ABB aims the package at system integrators rolling out vision across multiple customer sites and production lines.

ABB lists 2D pick and place, 3D bin picking, sorting and assembly among the supported applications. Quality inspection is also on the list, and the product page names inspection work in automotive press, body, paint and final assembly shops, as well as consumer electronics.

"Physical AI fundamentally changes what robots can do, where they can operate and the value they can create," said Marc Segura, President, ABB Robotics.

ABB will demonstrate AI Robot Trainer and OmniCore EyeMotion at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, October 12–16, 2026. The demo shows how shop floor images become physical robot actions.
